In-Depth Meditation Training with Venerable Losang Gendun

Join Year 3 Term 3 of In-Depth Meditation Training: Madhyamaka and Buddhanature.

From May 2 to July 4. Saturdays 16.30 – 19.00 (Helsinki time), online, only in English.

What is Year 3 Term 3 about?

Term 3 will be exploring some truly profound practices. The Mahāyāna teaches that samsāra and nirvāna are of one taste – and that is exactly what we will try to see for ourselves. In May, we will investigate why the bonds of samsāra are utterly illusory and therefore need not even be broken. In June, we will turn toward our own true nature and that of all life. We are all sons and daughters of the Buddha in the deepest sense: we carry buddhanature within us. Seeing this directly is not only liberating; it can transform our self-understanding at the root. This shift will open the door to the practices of Mahāmudrā and Kriyā Tantra the following year.

What is the IDMT program?

FPMT IDMT provides students with long term, in-depth support in their meditation. The weekly sessions, administered over Zoom, combine structured meditations (60min) with profound teachings (90min) and regular retreats in an international community of sincere practicioners.

The course especially offers:

  • Practical focus: emphasis is on developing direct, personal experience with the topics covered through listening, reflecting and meditating.
  • Structure for meditation practice: a way to maintain a contemplative life while leading a busy life, and support on how to use our meditation practices to help navigate everyday challenges.
  • Supportive environment: being a part of a mutually supportive international community of dedicated practicioners.
  • Access to extensive materials: all meditations, lectures and reading materials are available through an online portal for all registered students.

Here’s Ven. Gendun explaining what meditation is in the context of this course in his own words: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gz3slpaDb1U

Teachings take place on Saturdays at 16.30-19.00 (Helsinki time), online on Zoom.

Who can participate?

This course is most beneficial to participants who wish to develop their meditative practice long-term, and who have a good basic understanding of Mahayana Buddhism.

New students are welcome to join! We have a local community of Finnish students who meet regularly in Helsinki.

Program cost and registration
